Last Three Words

Moments… By Fr Jerry Orbos SVD

If I had only three last words to say, what would they be?

After my throat operation on April 15, 1999, I could not talk. I could only whisper as the doctor gave me strict orders to rest my vocal chords. I began to feel how difficult it was to have no voice. I then realised that if I had only three last words to say, I would say to God and to all the people in my life the words:

THANK YOU…

I AM SORRY…

I LOVE YOU…

You who have the voices now, say these words as often as you can to the people in your life, while you still can, and while they still can hear you.

A Moment with the LORD

Lord, have I told you lately that I love you? Have I told you that I am sorry and I thank you? Please make it easy for me to say these words, too, to the people around me. Amen.

A Moment with the WORD

“Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain wisdom of heart.” Psalm 90,12
