Carry your cross

Just A Moment by Fr Jerry Orbos SVD

Remember the story of a man who went to heaven?

St Peter called him to an anteroom filled with so many crosses of different colours and different shades. St Peter told to choose which cross he would like to carry if he were to go back to earth and live again. He took a long time to choose. Finally, he pointed at a cross in one corner.

St Peter asked him, “Is that your final answer? Sure?” When he said yes, St Peter told him, “My child, don’t you know that that was the very same cross you were carrying while you were still on earth, and you were always complaining and complaining?”

The lesson of the story is that instead of complaining, you should take up whatever cross you have now and trust in the Lord who has given you that cross. He knows that you can handle it.

A Moment With The LORD

Lord, may the cross I carry help me become a better person, not a bitter person. Amen.

A Moment With The WORD

“Whoever wishes to be my follower must deny his very self, take up his cross each day, and follow my steps.” Luke 9,23
