The WORD in Other Words by Fr Carlos Macatanga SVD (Canada)
Friday in the 5th Week of Lent
Jeremiah 20:10-13 John 10:31-42

This is the last week of Lent. We are about to enter into Holy Week. After five weeks of preparation for the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Christ, we should ask ourselves: Am I ready to walk with him this coming week? Have I responded to the invitation to repent and reform my life to honor the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross?
We are actually blessed because we have access to Sacred Scriptures. We know from the accounts of the different evangelists that indeed Jesus is the Son of God. He is the one whom the Father is well pleased. He is the Son who from the cross called out to his Father: “Into your hands I commend my Spirit.”
The people during the time of Jesus did not have these stories that we have now. Although they witnessed firsthand the miracles of Jesus some of them still doubted. Some even conspired to have him killed. We have access to Sacred Scriptures and we have seen and we have experienced and we continue to experience the many miracles of Jesus in our lives.
His WORKS and his WORDS are testimonies and proofs of who he is: the faithful Son of God: Let us pray that the Spirit of God accompany us in our pilgrimage in life so that like Jesus, our words and works may testify to who we are: faithful sons and daughters of God.
