SVD Day celebrated in Kinshasa

Divine Word Missionaries in Kinshasa marked the 144 years of the SVD on September 8 2019 with an an open house that features various activities throughout the day.

Msgr Gaspard Mudiso SVD, leading the Eucharistic Celebration on the SVD Day in Kinshasa at Notre Dame d’Afrique Parish in Lemba.

A concelebrated Mass opened the celebration with Msgr Gaspard Mudiso SVD presiding together with other SVDs present in Kinshasa. Msgr Mudiso is the first SVD priest and bishop from Congo. He is currently the Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Kenge.

The SVD Day is organized by the district of Kinshasa headed by Fr Hugo Tewes SVD being the district superior and was participated by various SVD parishes and institution based in Kinshasa.

Other activities filled the day commemorating the 144 years of the SVD that includes a human chain rosary, film showing and exhibit, and exchanges among guests and participants.
